GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Advanced Distance Training I, II and III with Strictly Running is geared toward improving a seasoned runner's performance at the 1m/5k/8k/10k level.  We will get you ready for the best run of your life.  Please register online if you are interested.  

 

Strictly Running accepts runners of all abilities and emphasizes cross-training as an important element to success.  Our groups will meet and run together twice a week and we will also email a training regimen for each week.

 

Prerequisites :

We request that you be comfortable running 5 miles without stopping.

We request that you can run 4-5 days a week.

The ADT Groups will meet Tuesdays and Saturdays for VO2 max and Lactate threshold training.  Tuesdays we will meet at Strictly Running at 736 Harden Street, in Five Points at 6:15pm.   Saturdays we will meet at Strictly Running at 736 Harden Street, in Five Points at 7:30am.  There will also be selected runs at other locations to keep it interesting.  Speed work will take place at USC Track, Hand Middle School and MLK Park.  Hill workouts will take place at Saluda Ave and Lee Street in Five Points.  Optional: Wednesdays we will meet at Riverfront Park, 5:35pm.

Detail Information about each class:

  • Advanced Distance Training I
    • Starts 2.28.2010 until 4.10.2010 is geared toward improving a seasoned runner's performance at the 1 mile up to the 8k level. This class will teach you the correct running form and Phase I of VO2 max and Lactate threshold training.   Meet on Tuesdays 6:15pm and Saturdays 7:30AM. Your Target Event will be the Run For Your Life 5k on 4.10.10. Prerequisite: Run under 25 minutes for a 5k. 12 sessions/6 weeks. First brief meeting will be on 2.28.10 at 4:00pm. Where: Strictly Running aka "Clubhouse"
  • Advanced Distance Training II
    • Starts 4.11.2010 until 5.22.2010 is geared toward improving a seasoned runner's performance at the 5k up to the 10k level. This class will teach you the correct running form and Phase II of VO2 max and Lactate threshold training.   Meet on Tuesdays 6:15pm and Saturdays 7:30AM. Your Target Event will be the Going the Extra Mile 5k on 5.22.10. Prerequisite: Run under 24 minutes for a 5k. 12 sessions/6 weeks. First brief meeting will be on 4.11.10 at 5:30pm. Where: Strictly Running aka "Clubhouse"
  • Advanced Distance Training III
    • Starts 5.23.2010 until 6.12.2010 is geared toward improving a seasoned runner's performance at the 6:30 minutues or faster pace. This class will teach you how to turn over your legs very fast using the correct form.   Meet on Tuesdays 5:45AM and Saturdays 7:30AM. Prerequisite: Run under 21 minutes for a 5k. 6 sessions/3 weeks. First brief meeting will be on 5.23.10 at 5:30pm. Where: Strictly Running aka "Clubhouse"

All  levels of runners are welcome. We especially like new runners!
